Japan's biggest game is, once again, Final Fantasy. According to a report on the entertainment page of Japan's Mainichi Interactive news site, Square Enix's Final Fantasy III topped the 500,000 mark in its first week of sales. In my experience, there has been a single very easy method to discern which developers are really pushing Nintendo's new Wii hardware, and which ones are simply rehashing GameCube titles. I turn to the developer in question and ask a simple question: "Is your game running in either progressive-scan mode or 16x9 widescreen?" Well it looks like that name changes are becoming common these days, according to the report below the official name for Sonic Wild Fire is now “Sonic and the Secret Rings”. A Nintendo Spanish magazine, called Nintendo Acción, says that in their Sept. 15 issue that the official price, launch date, and game lineup for the Wii will all be revealed. What does this mean for us? It means that Nintendo will most likely disclose everything (finally) on or before Sept. 15. Which means no more silly rumors about price and release date. Camp Hyrule 2006 begins the morning of Monday August 14, and here at
Nintendo Headquarters we're getting really excited about what we're certain
will be the BEST CAMP EVER! 
 
This year, each and every registered camper will automatically be entered
in a sweepstakes to win a Wii console! We’ll randomly select one camper
during the Camp Hyrule 2006 Closing Ceremonies, and as soon as Wii is
released it will shipped to that camper’s home. The official sweepstakes
rules are included at the bottom of this e-mail. 
 
You have been assigned to Cabin #7, and your lead Cabin Counselors are
NOA_Shifty and NOA_Final_Fantasy (NOA stands for Nintendo of America). Camp
Hyrule begins August 14 at 9:00 am Pacific Time, and ends the evening of

As you all saw i am in Cabin 7 this year. 
 
When you click "Enter Camp" at www.camphyrule.com on Monday morning, the
first thing you'll see is the Camp Hyrule map. You can explore tons of chat
rooms, bulletin boards and other fun stuff by exploring this map. While
you're exploring, be sure to visit the Trading Post to see a complete list
of Camp Hyrule activities each day. 
 
Here is your Cabin Chat schedule (all times are Pacific Daylight-Savings

the first cabin chat of the day. Also, everyone in your cabin will have the

Today, Activision announced its fiscal first quarter financial statement for 2007. Unfortunately for the gaming industry's second largest publisher its quarterly loss for the period ending June 30 widened to $17.8 million from the $3.6 million loss last year. Midway announced its second quarter earnings today, reporting decreased sales and net losses in line with expectations. For the three-month period ended June 30, 2006, Midway saw net revenues of $25.9 million, down from $36.9 million reported in the same period last year. You asked some great question. This is what we currently know about the Wii's Virtual Console feature. It will have downloadable access to 20 years of 
fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo 
Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). 
It will also feature a "best of" selection of Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx 
titles. 
 
The Virtual Console will allow you to do more than download and play your 
favorite classic games. Other material will be made available as well. More 
importantly, the Virtual Console will be home to new games conceived by indie 
developers whose creativity is larger than their budgets. 
 
There will be an extremely simple interface built into Wii's system software, 
allowing easy access to games and other material. With it, accessibility will

The Kyoto Shimbun reports today that Japanese sales of the Nintendo DS have crossed the 10 million mark.
